Nomenclatural History
The species Staphylococcus hominis was originally described by Kloos and Schleifer 1975. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Kloos et al. published an emended description of this species in 1998. In 1998, Kloos et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Kloos and Schleifer 1975) Kloos et al. 1998 .
