Nomenclatural History	The species Streptococcus dysgalactiae was originally described by Diernhofer 1932. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1983 the name was revived and validly published by Garvie et al.. In 1996, Vandamme et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form Streptococcus dysgalactiae dysgalactiae (ex Diernhofer 1932) Garvie et al. 1983 .
