Nomenclatural History
|
The species Streptococcus gallolyticus was originally described by Osawa et al. 1995. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 56 in 1996. Chamkha et al. published an emended description of this species in 2002. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Schlegel et al. in 2003. Sly et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Streptococcus caprinus Brooker et al. 1996
in 1997. In 2003, Schlegel et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form
Streptococcus gallolyticus gallolyticus (Osawa et al. 1996) Schlegel et al. 2003 emend. Beck et al. 2008
