The species Streptomyces cinnamoneus was originally described by Witt and Stackebrandt 1990. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 38 in 1991. Hatano et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Witt and Stackebrandt 1991 pro synon. Streptoverticillium hachijoense (Hosoya et al. 1952) Locci et al. 1969 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2003. Hatano et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Witt and Stackebrandt 1991 pro synon. Streptoverticillium griseoverticillatum (Shinobu and Shimada 1962) Locci et al. 1969 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2003. Hatano et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Witt and Stackebrandt 1996 pro synon. Streptoverticillium sapporonense (ex Miyoshi et al. 1972) Locci and Schofield 1989 in 2003. established as a later homotypic synonym of (Benedict et al. 1952) Baldacci et al. 1966 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2017.
