Nomenclatural History
The species Streptomyces hygroscopicus was originally described by Waksman and Henrici 1948. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Labeda and Lyons published an emended description of this species in 1991. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Komaki et al. in 2022. In 1956, Yüntsen et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Jensen 1931) Waksman and Henrici 1948 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Komaki et al. 2022 .
