The species Syntrophomonas bryantii was originally described and validly published by Wu et al. 2006. Wu et al. formed this name in 2006 by placing the species (Stieb and Schink 1985) Zhao et al. 1990 into the genus McInerney et al. 1982 emend. Wu et al. 2006.
