Nomenclatural History
The species Mycobacterium salmoniphilum was originally described by Ross 1960. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 2007 the name was revived and validly published by Whipps et al.. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. In 2018, Gupta et al. established as the basonym of (Whipps et al. 2007) Gupta et al. 2018 .
