The genus Solimonas was originally proposed and validly published by Kim et al. 2007. Sheu et al. published an emended description of this genus in 2011. Sheu et al. transferred the members of Zhou et al. 2008 into this genus in 2011. Sheu et al. transferred the members of Friedrich and Lipski 2008 into this genus in 2011.
