The species Pseudomonas betle was originally described by Savulescu 1947. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Trüper and De' Clari corrected this name from (sic) to . van den Mooter and Swings established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of (Hugh 1981) Swings et al. 1983 in 1990. van den Mooter and Swings established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Moniz 1963 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1990.
