The subspecies Xenorhabdus nematophilus poinarii was originally described and validly published by Akhurst 1983. Euzeby and Boemare corrected this name from Xenorhabdus nematophilus poinarii (sic) to Xenorhabdus nematophila poinarii . List Editor elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name
Xenorhabdus poinarii (Akhurst 1983) Akhurst and Boemare 1993
in 1993.
