The species Bacillus arsenicoselenatis was originally described by Switzer Blum et al. 1998. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 80 in 2001. Upon validation, this name was corrected from Bacillus arsenicoselenatis (sic) to Bacillus arseniciselenatis . In 2009, Zavarzina et al. established Bacillus arsenicoselenatis as the basonym of
Anaerobacillus arseniciselenatis (Switzer Blum et al. 2001) Zavarzina et al. 2010
