The subspecies Acetobacter xylinum xylinum was originally described by Yamada 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 14 in 1984. Euzéby corrected this name from Acetobacter xylinum xylinum (sic) to Acetobacter xylinus xylinus . In 1983, Yamada reduced
Acetobacter xylinus corrig. (Brown 1886) Yamada 1984
to the rank of subspecies.
