Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Acetobacter aceti xylinum was originally described by De Ley and Frateur 1974. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 59 in 1985. Judicial Commission corrected this name from (sic) to . Yamada elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name corrig.
