Nomenclatural History
The family Cytophagaceae was originally proposed by Stanier 1940. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. García-López et al. published an emended description of this family in 2019. Krieg et al. transferred the members of García-López et al. 2020 into this family in 2010.
