The species Clostridium lavalense was originally described and validly published by Domingo et al. 2009. In 2013, Yutin and Galperin established Clostridium lavalense as the basonym of
Lachnoclostridium lavalense (Domingo et al. 2009) Yutin and Galperin 2013
. In 2020, Haas and Blanchard established Clostridium lavalense as the basonym of
Enterocloster lavalensis (Domingo et al. 2009) Haas and Blanchard 2020
