Nomenclatural History
The species Afifella marina was originally described by Urdiain et al. 2008. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 127 in 2009. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Urdiain et al. formed this name in 2008 by placing the species (Imhoff 1984) Hiraishi et al. 1995 into the genus Urdiain et al. 2009.
