The species Prosthecomicrobium mishustinii was originally described by Vasil'eva et al. 1991. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 127 in 2009. In 2010, Yee et al. established as the basonym of (Vasil'eva et al. 2009) Yee et al. 2010 .
