The species Rhodobaca barguzinensis was originally described by Boldareva et al. 2008. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 127 in 2009. In 2021, Liang et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form
Rhodobaca bogoriensis barguzinensis (Boldareva et al. 2009) Liang et al. 2021
