The species Paenisporosarcina macmurdoensis was originally described and validly published by Krishnamurthi et al. 2009. Krishnamurthi et al. formed this name in 2009 by placing the species Reddy et al. 2003 into the genus Krishnamurthi et al. 2009 emend. Reddy et al. 2013.
