The species Halorubrum chaoviator was originally described and validly published by Mancinelli et al. 2009. Corral et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Halorubrum ezzemoulense Kharroub et al. 2006 emend. Corral et al. 2018
in 2018.
