The species Micrococcus yunnanensis was originally described and validly published by Zhao et al. 2009. Huang et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Micrococcus luteus (Schroeter 1872) Cohn 1872 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Huang et al. 2019
in 2019.
