Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Desulfovibrio africanus africanus was originally described and validly published by Castañeda-Carrión et al. 2010. In 2010, Castañeda-Carrión et al. reduced Campbell et al. 1966 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of subspecies. In 2019, Spring et al. established as the basonym of (Campbell et al. 1966) Spring et al. 2019 .
