Nomenclatural History
The species Salinicola halophilus was originally described and validly published by de la Haba et al. 2010. de la Haba et al. formed this name in 2010 by placing the species Aguilera et al. 2007 into the genus Anan'ina et al. 2008 emend. Fidalgo et al. 2019.

The epithet from the basonym (Chromohalobacter salarius) in order to avoid creating a homonym to Salinicola salaris (basonym Halomonas salaria).
