The family Achromatiaceae was originally proposed by Massart 1902. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Garrity et al. transferred the members of this family into
Thiotrichaceae Garrity et al. 2005 emend. Boden and Scott 2018
in 2005.
