The class Anoxyphotobacteria was originally proposed by Murray 1984. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 25 in 1988. Murray elevated the subclass
Anoxyphotobacteriae Gibbons and Murray 1978 (Approved Lists 1980)
to the rank of class to form this name in 1984. Garrity and Holt replaced this name with
Chlorobia (Cavalier-Smith 2002) Garrity and Holt 2005
in 2005.
