Nomenclatural History
The order Micrococcales was originally proposed by Prévot 1940. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this order in 2018. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Salam et al. in 2020. Stackebrandt et al. transferred the members of this order into Buchanan 1917 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Salam et al. 2020 in 1997.
