This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 79 in 2005. The order Prochlorales was originally proposed by Lewin 1977. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1986 the name was revived and validly published by Florenzano et al..
