The species Idiomarina aestuarii was originally described and validly published by Wang et al. 2011. Wang et al. formed this name in 2011 by placing the species Park et al. 2010 emend. Liu et al. 2018 into the genus Ivanova et al. 2000 emend. Taborda et al. 2009.
