The species Diplorickettsia massiliensis was originally described by Mediannikov et al. 2010. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 141 in 2011. In 2021, Saini and Gupta established as the basonym of (Mediannikov et al. 2011) Saini and Gupta 2021 .
