The species Leucobacter celer was originally described and validly published by Shin et al. 2011. Clark and Hodgkin published an emended description of this species in 2015. In 2015, Clark and Hodgkin reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Shin et al. 2011) Clark and Hodgkin 2015 .
