Nomenclatural History
The species Bacillus macroides was originally described by Bennet and Canale-Parola 1965. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 2012 the name was revived and validly published by Coorevits et al.. This name replaces the name Pringsheim 1950 . In 2012, Coorevits et al. established as the basonym of Coorevits et al. 2012 .
