The species Enterococcus lactis was originally described and validly published by Morandi et al. 2012. Li and Gu published an emended description of this species in 2019. Li and Gu established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Enterococcus xinjiangensis Ren et al. 2020
in 2019.
