The species Desulfobulbus marinus was originally described by Kuever et al. 2005. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 149 in 2013. In 2020, Galushko and Kuever established as the basonym of (Kuever et al. 2013) Galushko and Kuever 2021 .
