The species Pleomorphobacterium xiamenense was originally described and validly published by Yin et al. 2013. Huang et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Oceanicella actignis Albuquerque et al. 2012 emend. Hördt et al. 2020
in 2017.
