The species Tropicibacter litoreus was originally described by Lucena et al. 2013. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 155 in 2014. In 2018, Wirth and Whitman established as the basonym of (Lucena et al. 2014) Wirth and Whitman 2018 . In 2021, Liang et al. established as the basonym of (Lucena et al. 2014) Liang et al. 2021 .
