The species Pseudocitrobacter anthropi was originally described by Kämpfer et al. 2014. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 157 in 2014. Kämpfer et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Kämpfer et al. 2014 emend. Kämpfer et al. 2020 in 2020.
