Nomenclatural History

The subspecies Geobacter sulfurreducens sulfurreducens was originally described by Caccavo et al. 1994. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 158 in 2014. In 2013, Viulu et al. reduced
Geobacter sulfurreducens Caccavo et al. 1995 emend. Viulu et al. 2013
to the rank of subspecies.
