The species Komagataeibacter maltaceti was originally described and validly published by Yamada 2014. Yamada formed this name in 2014 by placing the species Slapšak et al. 2013 into the genus Yamada et al. 2013. In 2022, Brandão et al. established as the basonym of (Slapšak et al. 2013) Brandão et al. 2022 .
