The species Leisingera caerulea was originally described by Breider et al. 2014. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 160 in 2014. Breider et al. formed this name in 2014 by placing the species
Phaeobacter caeruleus Vandecandelaere et al. 2009
into the genus Leisingera Schaefer et al. 2002 emend. Breider et al. 2014.
