The species Methylobacterium pseudosasae was originally described by Madhaiyan and Poonguzhali 2014. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 172 in 2016. In 2018, Green and Ardley established as the basonym of (Madhaiyan and Poonguzhali 2016) Green and Ardley 2018 .
