Halomonas utahensis Sorokin and Tindall 2006
Nomenclatural History
The species Halomonas utahensis was originally described by Sorokin and Tindall 2006. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 93 in 2014. Sorokin and Tindall formed this name in 2006 by placing the species Fendrich 1989 into the genus Vreeland et al. 1980 emend. Dobson and Franzmann 1996.

The combination Halomonas halophila (Quesada et al. 1984) Dobson and Franzmann 1996 has priority based on the fact that the epithet halophila in the combination Halomonas halophila (Quesada et al. 1984) Dobson and Franzmann 1996 (basoynm Deleya halophila Quesada et al. 1984) has priority over the epithet halophila should the taxon Pseudomonas halophila Fendrich 1989 be treated as a member of the genus Halomonas, a new name (nomen novum) needs to be created as outlined by Sorokin & Tindall (2006).
