The species Mzabimyces algeriensis was originally described by Saker et al. 2014. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 166 in 2015. In 2017, Lai et al. established Mzabimyces algeriensis as the basonym of
Halopolyspora algeriensis (Saker et al. 2015) Lai et al. 2017
.
