The species Ensifer morelense was originally described by Wang et al. 2013. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 162 in 2015. Upon validation, this name was corrected from (sic) to . Wang et al. formed this name in 2013 by placing the species Wang et al. 2002 into the genus Casida 1982 emend. Kuzmanović et al. 2022.
