The subspecies Vibrio tubiashii europaensis was originally described by Prado et al. 2015. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 169 in 2016. Prado et al. corrected this name from (sic) to . Dubert et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name (Prado et al. 2016) Dubert et al. 2016 in 2016.
