The species Pseudoroseovarius halocynthiae was originally described by Sun et al. 2015. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 166 in 2015. Hördt et al. published an emended description of this species in 2020. Sun et al. formed this name in 2015 by placing the species
Roseovarius halocynthiae Kim et al. 2012
into the genus Aliiroseovarius Park et al. 2015 emend. Dobritsa and Samadpour 2016. Dobritsa and Samadpour established Pseudoroseovarius halocynthiae as a later homotypic synonym of
Aliiroseovarius halocynthiae (Kim et al. 2012) Park et al. 2015 emend. Hördt et al. 2020
in 2016.
