Nomenclatural History
The species Verticia sediminum was originally described and validly published by Vandamme et al. 2015. Vandamme et al. formed this name in 2015 by placing the species Zhang et al. 2014 into the genus (Vandamme et al. 2015) Vandamme 2016. Vandamme replaced this illegitimate name with (Zhang et al. 2014) Vandamme 2016 in 2016.

This name is illegitimate because the genus is a homonym of Verticia Malloch, 1927 (Zoological Code).
