The species Francisella persica was originally described and validly published by Larson et al. 2016. Larson et al. formed this name in 2016 by placing the species Suitor and Weiss 1961 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Dorofe'ev 1947 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Huber et al. 2010.
