Nomenclatural History
The species Agathobacter rectalis was originally described and validly published by Rosero et al. 2016. Rosero et al. formed this name in 2016 by placing the species (Hauduroy et al. 1937) Prévot 1938 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Rosero et al. 2016.

This name is illegitimate because the type strain contravenes Rule 18c. The basonym of this name has a proposed neotype that has not yet been ruled on by the Judicial Commission.
