The species Acidipropionibacterium microaerophilum was originally described and validly published by Scholz and Kilian 2016. Scholz and Kilian formed this name in 2016 by placing the species
Propionibacterium microaerophilum Koussémon et al. 2001
into the genus Acidipropionibacterium Scholz and Kilian 2016.
Tindall 2019 asserts that one of the two nomenclatural type deposits is a patent strain.
