The subspecies Lactococcus garvieae bovis was originally described and validly published by Varsha and Nampoothiri 2016. In 2021, Zhang et al. established as the basonym of (Varsha and Nampoothiri 2016) Zhang et al. 2021 . Zhang et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Chen et al. 2014 emend. Zhang et al. 2021 in 2021.
